House Concerts

Sometimes getting booked in a new city where I don't know anyone is not so easy to do. But if YOU like my music and you want me to come play in your city, and you don't mind telling your friends how awesome you think I am, then we might be able to arrange a house concert!

What is a house concert?
A house concert is where you have a party at your house, and I am the entertainment. It can be just you and your friends, or you can open it to the public. Because they’re usually on a smaller scale, you don’t need any sound equipment – just a house and some excitement about my music. Yes folks, it’s that easy!

What kind of space do I need?
That's up to you really, but you should have a space large enough for at least 15-20 people (though obviously if you have the space and want to invite more that's totally acceptable). It can be indoors or outdoors, whatever is your preference. P.S. I prefer not to play outdoors if it’s raining or snowing. I know I'm a Prima Donna, work with me people!

Don't worry. If you want to make it a totally private event and have your own guest list that's fine. However, if you decide you're willing to invite some new people into your home, you should know that it's been my experience that my fans are very kind, open, accepting people who enjoy meeting other kind, open, accepting people. They're pretty clean too, so you don't have to worry about them spilling on the sofa. I will reveal only as much info about the event as you'd like us to on my website, usually just an email address to contact for tickets and I'll never post your address. It will be up to you to provide directions to people who purchase tickets.

How long will Mara wow us with her musical genius?
I generally will play for about an hour or an hour and half. Mostly my original material that you've grown to love and cherish. Although I am a musical genius, I can't always perform covers when requested (there are just too many great songs out there to learn to cover them all). But if you have a few that you really really want me to play (mine or someone else's), mention it when you contact me and I will learn it in time for your show. After all, it is YOUR house.

How much does it cost?
Again, that depends on you. If you'd like to sell tickets, that's fine. If you'd like to take donations from your guests, that's fine. If you'd like to pay Mara all out of your pocket, also fine. The only expenses we absolutely have to cover are travel expenses, and there's almost always a way to get around those as well. Fees and costs are almost always negotiable because we hate the thought of money preventing the enjoyment of music.

I'm sold! What next?
Contact me. I will lead you hand in hand and give you plenty of details. I will provide any info, photos, etc. that you may want for your invitations and give you some suggestions for making the concert/party a successful event. Just remember, there is no such thing as stupid question!
